A NEW PACK for me...
After some avid bidding and fanagling I have succefully procured myself a new pack. I found a treasure on Ebay. A gentleman out west was selling a Kelty Pacific Crest 5000. I have never bought used gear before especially from ebay mostly because I am nervous about the quality of the products. This man, was very cordial in his responses to me and because he knew I was a fellow backpacker waived the shipping fees as long as I promised to use this pack well. A week later it arrived.
WOW!!!! I can barely even tell this pack was used at all. It's awesome. Check the links over on the right and it will send you to a review. Some of the better features of this pack are tie off points, a hydration slot and ports on the bag, tons of room, and a top that becomes a hip pack so you can pitch camp and then go on day hikes. The suspension is also unique. Insted of being statci and having to pull pins to make adjustments the whole thing slides on two rails with tension straps to keep it tight. NEAT. I couldn't resist. I spent several hours transfering my gear into the new pack and sized it up. At this point a beautiful sunset was washing over Chicago. So... I went for a hike. Four miles. I could barely even tell I had a pack on my back. What a dream. I can't wait to take it on a full trip... soon I hope.
